Who Is Jesus To You?
For centuries people have debated the question "Who
is Jesus?" Was He just a religious man who taught and practiced a good
moral lifestyle? Maybe He was merely another philosopher like Plato and Aristotle
who lived long ago dazzling minds with new, interesting ideas and concepts.
Perhaps He was a spiritual fanatic and revolutionist who influenced many people
to follow Him. Ever since He hit the earth, people have wondered just who
exactly is this Jesus?
This type of discussion reminds me of a passage in Matthew 16: 13-15. Jesus
asked His disciples, "Who do men say that I am?" They replied, "some
say John the Baptist, some say Elijah and others say Jeremiah or one of the
other prophets." Then Jesus asked them " but who do you say that
I am?" and Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living
God." See, many people believe that Jesus taught positive principles
and promoted a better way of living. Some agree, according to history, that
Jesus was an actual person. Some would even admit that indeed He was a prophet
sent by God. The Bible plainly declares who Jesus is: the King of Glory, God
manifested in the flesh, the Savior of the world who was crucified, buried
and resurrected for the sins of men. So the issue isn’t only who is
Jesus, but
Who Is Jesus To You?
Is Jesus your Savior and Lord? Is He your Savior in
that you accept His sacrificial death on the cross of Calvary as the final
atonement and full payment for your sins, acknowledging He died in your stead?
Do you concede that because He died and rose again, eternal life is given
to those who receive the only One able to save man from hell, Jesus the Christ.
If so then that’s cool (oftentimes people are down with that portion),
but what about the other part, is Jesus your Lord? This is the kicker, the
line of demarcation that separates those who casually claim Christ from the
true believer. Do you submit to Him being in total control of every aspect
of your life? Wherever He leads, are you willing to follow? Whatever He says,
are you willing to obey? Is the Bible absolute truth to you and is it the
final authority in your life? Do you seek to live a life pleasing to Him or
do you seek to please men or yourself and do your own thing because after
all "God is love and surely He’ll forgive" right? Think about
it!! Examine yourself!!! Who is Jesus to you?! Can you honestly say that for
you Jesus is both Savior and Lord? What if Jesus were to say to you today,
"I know who others say that I am, but who do you say that I am?"
what would your response be? If you confess Him to be Savior and Lord, does
your actions match your answer and does your walk represent your talk?! The
eternal destiny of your soul hangs on one simple question,
Who Is Jesus To You?
